Asking Yourself "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?"

Posted on November 22, 2008

Seattle Realtors seem to be dropping like flies lately that is tough and I do wish anyone leaving the Seattle real estate market the best of luck. I actually will be hiring on a few referral only status agents so that they can save all of their hard work and investments to get something out of it. Luckily, they do have an option and I wish them the best of luck! It is hard to see so many having so much trouble in this market, and I also strongly believe that the negativity is affecting things further. The attitude is no doubt passed on to clients and the fear grows.   The fact is that people are still moving despite many of the news stories you are hearing!

I am not going to sugar coat it, because yes, 2008 has been a very different year for Seattle real estate, but horrible market? NO. More like a normal market. Price your house right and prepare it for the market and you can sell it. Selling right now isnt for everyone, though. You might have a situation that makes staying put the better option. But if you think your price is down only a bit or not at all and you can get a new house for a much lower price than in years past, then you should make the move. If you are a first timer and qualified, do not pass go. Go find a house because this buyer market you are in combined with low interest rates on a mortgage is the platter situation you have been handed.

Looking at the stats on my various websites and logs and then comparing it to numbers both in the MLS and also a variety of other places shows you that people are still buying houses in Seattle and the Seattle suburbs.  It is so important to make sure that the first impression is the best if you decide to sell in this market. Buyers are pickier than in years past. If your house has a days on market more than 60 days, then you need to figure out what you are doing wrong because most potential buyers who are active and qualified would have seen it.
